Bai Mengyao, the Bai family’s lost daughter, returned from an orphanage but was scorned—their adopted daughter Bai Yaxi turned them against her. Meng Zirui, whom Mengyao liked, favored Yaxi; Yaxi even stole credit for Mengyao’s kidney donation to the ailing Zirui.
