Layla Romanova, a former principal dancer of the New York City Ballet, suffered an ankle injury and was admitted to a private sanatorium by her boyfriend, Viktor, who secretly placed her under house arrest and administered banned drugs to control her. Suspicious of her therapist, Kayla, Layla discovered they were long-lost sisters. To protect Kayla, who had gathered evidence of Viktor's illegal activities, Layla disguised herself as Kayla to escape and deliver the evidence to federal prosecutors while Kayla posed as Layla. When Viktor nearly exposed them, federal agents arrested him. The sanatorium was shut down, and the sisters reopened their mother’s dance studio, combining ballet with rehabilitation therapy. Layla made a triumphant return to the stage, achieving healing and creating a haven for others.
