Rosa, a 43-year-old Mexican immigrant, works in a Chicago hotel laundry to support her daughter’s dance dream. On payday, she discovers that her supervisor Frank and his relative in HR have been stealing workers’ overtime pay. Unable to speak English, Rosa uses her artwork to expose the fraud, secretly sharing drawings that inspire more than forty female employees to stand together. Their campaign forces the hotel manager to intervene, fire the two men, and repay every stolen wage. Rosa is elected to lead a payroll review committee, learns English, and begins teaching labor-rights workshops for immigrants. Over time, she becomes a respected advocate for working people, inspiring her daughter to pursue social work and carry forward her belief that unity brings fairness and dignity.
