To investigate her girlfriend Vera's murder, Alice undergoes plastic surgery to look like Vera and infiltrates a funeral home. In the morgue's cold storage, she discovers multiple bodies all bearing Vera's face — unearthing a century-old curse. Damon is merely its vessel. With Gus's help she escapes and restores her original face, then meets the curse's next host, Marcus, and refuses to kill to break the cycle. The three break free of the curse's script and return to ordinary life, but the curse only sleeps — and resurfaces in another city.
